Professor Roderick Hay has expertise in a wide range of areas, including acne, eczema, psoriasis, impetigo, urticaria, dandruff, dermoscopy, cyst excision, skin cancer, infectious skin disease, tropical skin conditions, and mycoses.He graduated from Oxford University and Guys Hospital Medical School in 1971 before completing specialist training at Guys Hospital and The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He was appointed as a consultant dermatologist in 1979 and worked as a consultant dermatologist at Guys and St Thomas Hospitals Trust, Belfast Hospitals Trust, and St Johns Institute of Dermatology before joining Kings College Hospital.Prof. Hay has served as an Honorary Consultant Microbiologist for Public Health England and University College Hospital London. He formerly worked for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States. He is currently a specialist advisor to the International Foundation for Dermatology and the World Health Organisation, where he advises on skin public health and tropical skin diseases.He has research interests in infectious skin diseases, mycoses, and tropical public health. He has published over 500 papers, 150 textbook chapters, and 9 books focusing on skin infections, eczema, fungal infections, and nail diseases.
